DTH wants to end the waiting game

DTH van der Merwe starts against Munster
DTH van der Merwe is still waiting for the two scores that would make him Glasgow's all-time top try scorer.

The Canadian international has scored 26 tries for Glasgow and is just two touch downs away from overtaking Thom Evans who scored 27 tries for the Warriors.

DTH has not touched down since the 41-7 home win over Treviso, on January 4, but he's still making an impact for Glasgow including a superb run and offload to set up a try for Peter Horne in last week's game in Dublin.

DTH starts against Munster at Scotsoun tonight and says it's a great chance to bounce back after last week's defeat at the RDS.

DTH told the Evening Times: "It is a bit frustrating that I haven't notched since January but the main thing for me is that the team have been winning. That said I am very hungry to get back on the scoresheet and it would be great to make a start to that tonight in front of our home fans at Scotstoun.

"Last week against Leinster I made the run down the wing and for a second I considered going it alone, but I thought Peter Horne was in a better position to make sure we got the try and then set up an easy conversion. So there was no question, I had to offload.

"But I was really pleased with my run down the touchline, considering I am the worst mover on the dance floor imaginable; you would have thought I was a limbo dancer in a previous life. But seriously it would be great to get an opportunity tonight to add to my tally.

"We know that we need to bounce back from the Leinster defeat and that a win over Munster would make it real hard for them to catch us in the play-off standings. So this is just one massive game for Glasgow.

"People keep reminding me that I am one short of Thom's record and that I haven't touched down since Treviso at the beginning of the year. But that is no problem for me, as I know that if I am patient opportunities will come my way.

"There wasn't a lot wrong with last week at Leinster. We led the best team in Europe for 70 minutes and just failed to close the deal. So tonight will be about putting it together for the full 80 minutes.

"Munster are not that different from Leinster in that they like to employ the choke [tackle] and with Paul O'Connell back they will be galvanised by his presence.

"But with Leinster hosting Ulster on Saturday we have a golden chance to get a home win that would put real pressure on them and take us top again."
