Warriors must keep setting the standard

Gregor Townsend says Glasgow can't let standards slip
Friday night's big win over Munster and Leinster's defeat to Ulster means Glasgow go into the last three games of the regular season sitting top of the PRO12 table.

Next up for the Warriors is a trip to Wales to face play-off chasers Scarlets.

With the Warriors just a point ahead of second-placed Ulster the clash with Scarlets is crucial to Glasgow hopes of securing a home semi-final berth in the PRO12 play-offs.

Looking back to the Munster win, the Warriors head coach said: "The second period was the best half of rugby we have played in my time here. That is now the benchmark for the remaining three league games. There can be no slipping off that standard.

"It was relentless stuff, played at a tempo Munster could not live with and that is the type of rugby we want to play and have been striving to produce. But Scarlets are next for us. They beat us at Scotstoun earlier in the season, so we know how tough it will be there on Friday week.

"But what we have now done is shown real consistency and that is what we need to retain.

"It was a complete performance from Ruaridh (Jackson). I was delighted for him in the reaction he got from the crowd, but we had a chat in the afternoon before the game and he was really receptive.

"He tackled well, his goal-kicking was 100 per cent and he scored a great try and went for his line breaks."

Warriors' hopes could be further boosted with the return from injury of two key players now imminent.

Gregor revealed: "We are hoping to have Chris Fusaro and Michael Cusack back at club level this weekend and they could then be available for the trip to Scarlets. It would be fantastic to get another two back at this stage."
