Gregor Townsend is happy with the competition for places in the Glasgow line-up
Gregor Townsend was happy with the bonus-point win over Treviso that saw his side move into a PRO12 play-off spot.

Gregor told glasgowwarriors.org: “I'm absolutely thrilled with the bonus point. I was really pleased with how we started and I thought we set about our tasks very well and very quickly with two tries in the first few minutes.

"There were some sloppy moments and we were disappointed with the try we gave away, but I was really pleased with how we kept them out in the second-half.

“It’s an important win to keep us in the mix for the top four.”

The Warriors head coach was also delighted with the performances of Sean Maitland and Finn Russell.

He said: “The bit of the pitch where most of play was in the first-half was very soft and it involved Sean (Maitland). When wingers see a soft pitch they think they might not see as much of the ball but he was excellent and was really switched on.

“Finn has looked very composed every time he’s played for us this season. I think playing at 12 he makes the right decisions on the ball, he knows when to pass and when to run and he’s also got that kicking option and his tackle at the end to force a turnover was excellent so it’s great that he’s playing so well.

“You want that competition for places and it’s great to see someone like Finn developing, he obviously finished the game at 10 and plays 12, so the more depth we have and the more people we have challenging for places the better."
