As well as hoping to help secure Glasgow's first league win of the season for the PRO12 champions, Rory wants to catch the eye of other clubs. He only signed a short-term contract with Glasgow, to cover for absences during the Rugby World Cup, and wants to show potential employers what he is capable of.
Speaking in the Evening Times, Rory said: “I’m really looking forward to it. I was disappointed not to play against the Scarlets in the first game, but I’m looking forward to taking my opportunity now.
“I’m only here until the end of October, so when the World Cup boys come back I’ll be leaving. This is a huge opportunity for me to put myself out there. I’m still looking for a club to go to after October, so I’m going to try and put in my best performance.
“Every game now is a crunch game for me and I need to perform. I’ll try not to let the pressure get too much, but I need to perform for me and hopefully that will be a good thing for the team.”
Rory lines up alongside his former Newcastle colleague Mike Blair who is also making his first start for the Warriors.
Rory says the scrum-half is a calming influence when the pressure is on. “I played two years with him at Newcastle. He’s a great player, he’s good to go to during the game to talk to about what’s going on - tactics and all that sort of stuff.
“He’ll drive the pace of the game, which is what we want as well. He’s obviously a good person to have inside me."
