Heineken absence may mean White is on his way to Sale

A report by Lewis Stuart in The Times claims that Friday night's Bank of Scotland Pro Rugby Cup result, which confirms that Glasgow will be relegated to the second-ranked European competition next season, means that Jason White will soon confirm that he is to join Sale Sharks next season.

It is understood that ambition to play at the highest level, rather than money, is the prime motivation.

The article also predicts a hard year ahead on the financial front for the SRU. Bart Campbell, a players' agent with numerous clients in Scotland, says that there are problems with the renegotiated contracts for many of the present Scotland side. Nathan Hines, whose market value has gone from hoping to win a Scotland A place to being able to push the likes of Scott Murray and Stuart Grimes out of the full international side, has been offered only a 7 per cent pay rise, while Campbell alleges that Martin Leslie has not been offered a new contract at all.
