McIlwham in talks with Borders

Former Glasgow prop Gordon McIlwham may be turning out for Borders against the Warriors next season.

McIlwham admits disappointment at missing out on a move back to Hughenden after talks with Glasgow came to nothing, but claims that a move back to Scotland is still a possibility

He told The Herald: "There is no contract on the table at the moment but my agent has been speaking to the Borders," he said. "Apparently, Cardiff and Saracens, as well as Leinster and Munster, have all noted interest but coming back to Scotland has always been my preferred option."

Former Glasgow centre James McLaren has signed for French second division side Bayonne.

Glasgow's Celtic Cup clash with the Celtic Warriors (Pontypridd/Bridgend) will be televised live on BBC Two Wales (ko 7.05pm). Glasgow's Celtic League match against Munster will be played at Musgrave Park, Cork. The date and kick-off have been listed as Friday 24 October at 7.30pm, though these may have to change if the game is to be televised.
