Andy Henderson and Jon Petrie have been named in the Scotland team to face Italy in Saturday's friendly at Murrayfield.

Ian McGeechan said he was keen to look at "different combinations" during the course of the three Tests. Rob Russell gets a run at hooker in place of Glasgow's Gordon Bulloch while Jon Petrie gets another opportunity to stake his claim for a place at openside flanker. Glenn Metcalfe is also rested.

"We feel Gordon Bulloch is playing some of the best rugby of his career just now, but Robbie Russell is an outstanding hooker and player and he should have a run.

"Jon Petrie has worked very hard at number 7 and he gives us some very interesting options there."

Gordon Bulloch and Graeme Beveridge are named among the Scotland replacements.
