Kevin, who has played prop for Canada 26 times, holds a B.A. in history from the University of Victoria and an M. Sc. in history from England’s Oxford University.
In an interview with Ian Kennedy of Rugby Canada News, Kevin says: "I have always tried to combine education and rugby. Education and learning are a big part of my ethos, and I have always tried to keep the two in focus. It has been a real goal of mine to continue my schooling through rugby."
Named captain of the Canada team to face France tomorrow, Kevin is no stranger to leadership.
"Captaincy is not new to me," says Kevin. "I have captained Saskatchewan representative teams at every level, as well as the Prairie Fire, and have captained CCSD and Oxford in various games. I don't view captaincy as a burden. It is certainly an honour, but when you have a good group of guys, like we have in the Canada team, it makes the task much easier."
Kevin will join up with Glasgow after the France game. "We will have our work cut out. We play in the Celtic League and European Cup where we are drawn to play Toulouse, Llanelli and Northampton. It will be interesting to say the least," opines Kevin.
"I want to continue playing for Canada for as long as I can. I have an understanding with my new team that I will be available to play for Canada on an ongoing basis," says this proud Canadian.
