After JP's strong performance in the second half of last week's game against Australia, he has been rewarded with a starting place in this weekend's match against Japan.
"It's a huge chance for me. To be named in the starting line-up gives me the opportunity to show what I'm best at. I'm determined to put in a good performance for myself, for the team and for Scotland."
Meanwhile, his Glasgow team mate is looking forward to playing in front of his "home" crowd, after his try scoring performance last weekend. Sean Lamont was born in Perth and went to school in Blairgowrie. "My grandparents are coming to see me play on Saturday as they live close to Perth. They are very keen to see me play for the first time in the flesh.
"I watched Japan in the Rugby World Cup last year and I remember they gave us a run for our money. They are a well disciplined side. We know they will be quick out wide but we'll just have to trust our defensive line and improve on the mistakes we made last week."
