Ecstasy to agony for Gareth

Gareth Maclure's score dragged Glasgow back unto the game but he couldn't clinch the game with the last move of the match
Gareth Maclure is shouldering the blame for Glasgow's Heineken Cup defeat to Llanelli last Sunday.

Gareth got Glasgow back in the match with an interception try from halfway for his first Heineken Cup score, but he couldn't hold onto Dan Parks' cross kick in the last move of the game.

Gareth told today's Herald: "My touchdown was a thrill at the time, but the bottom line is that my mistake cost us the game. I missed a tackle which let them score - then I couldn't catch Dan's cross kick when all I had to do was flop over the line.

"I feel I have let the lads and the supporters down and I hold my hands up."

But Glasgow skipper Jon Petrie leapt to Gareth's defence, saying: "We blew it long before that chance was missed. Our display in the first half had been unacceptabe."

Applause for Gareth's honesty. Others need to shoulder the blame. The lineout and restarts remain our achilles heel. Get them sorted and a bit more composure and we will have lots to shout about!

At least he is being honest, I suppose. Right from the start he was suspect especially in defence. Yes he got the interception and the try - well done.Moving him into the centre was not the greatest move, on a number of occasions he looked totally lost. Shouldn't pick on one player though but was there nobody on the bench that could have replaced him.
We need big improvements in the line outs and the re-starts. More penetration in the backs is also required.
