GB on shortlist to skipper Lions

Glasgow hooker and Scotland skipper Gordon Bulloch is on the shortlist to be named Lions captain for the forthcoming tour of New Zealand.

Head coach Clive Woodward has been impressed with Gordon's leadership despite Scotland's poor Autumn Test series.

Brian O'Driscoll, Jonny Wilkinson, Gareth Thomas and Jason Robinson are also in contention.

Woodward said: "I'm so pleased with the strength and unity of the four countries. All four have got wonderful captains.

"Only one guy can captain the team, but we need leadership throughout the side on and off the field."

He added: "I think the Six Nations is going to be very special this year, especially because it's a Lions year."

Earlier this week Donnie Macfadyen was mentioned as a potential Lion after the Glasgow openside was one of the few players to impress in Scotland's autumn matches.
