Hawks face fixture backlog

Glasgow Hawks could be forced to add to their fixture backlog by pulling out of rugby union's BT Premiership clash with Boroughmuir at Old Anniesland this weekend, making them four games off schedule.

Hawks, who look likely to be missing six first-team players with call-ups to Glasgow, have applied for a postponement.

Club spokesman Hugh Barrow said: "If we were to go ahead, we would be without half our first-choice team and not only would we be risking our title chances, the championship would be devalued."

So the big money rolled professional team has a shortage of players bad enough to take players from Hawks again!

Why not postpone Glasgow's professional game for the weekend? They are the team without a full pool.

Just another example in a long line of the professional game having total control over the club game. And there's universal wonder that the clubs are finally revolting and fighting back?

In a meeting in May last year it was agreed by the Chief Executives of Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Borders, the SRU, and the Premier One Forum negotiators that "no more than two players per club would be called up by pro teams for any one match."

Three months later, in August, without further consultation clubs were told by thre SRU that four or more might be called away!

Now we hear Glasgow Hawks have six players called away to pro team duty! Where will this all end?!

And what beggars more belief is why are the SRU getting away with it!?

Could the players involved not just say they don't want to play for Glasgow?

That's a valid point. Looking at the other angle too, couldn't the SRU offer them a contract?

Yet again, the mighty HB refuses to answer a straight question! Of course they could refuse to play for Glasgow. But, no matter how much it may upset the club folk, they *prefer* to play for Glasgow over their clubs.
Sure, I would like the SRU to give them contracts. However, it's a harsh world, full of skulduggery. I'm sure there would be an outcry if Glasgow were able to contract another 10 apprentices?! Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I'm nowhere near "mighty" Julian. Must be national muck all over highlandbrave day today!

Getting back to the original posting though to be fair, I did mention that Big Blue had a valid point regarding them not turning out for the pro side.

Not at this moment in time, I wouldn't have thought.

Yeah I thought not. They may have been able to though but that brings us back round in the circle again.

Privatised, not enough money in, about maintain and modernity.
French railway works very well,

I was on the railway going down to Gourock the other day and somebody said "look there is Dumbarton Rock"--watched it for five minutes didn't move an inch

The wife asked if her mother could come down for the weekend
I replied that I didn't realise that she was still on the roof

I once saw a man in a movie who said {The Lord tells me he can get me out of this mess. but, he's pretty sure you're f-----}. Sounds a bit like scottish rugby to be honest.
