Battling Warriors earn Sean's praise

Sean Lineen was pleased with the passion his team displayed
A bonus point was a meagre reward for a Glasgow team that should have dented Leinster's Celtic League hopes at Firhill last night.

The Warriors looked sunk at 15-3 down to a full-strength Irish side at half-time at Firhill but rallied in the second half to put the frighteners on the league leaders with tries from Andy Henderson and Stuart Corsar.

"We were the architects of our own demise" said Sean. "Our accuracy on the ball was not great and our passing wasn't great but ultimately what I was pleased with was the passion they played with and particularly the performances of some of the youngsters, guys like Stuart Corsar, John Beattie, Ben Prescott, Fergus Thomson and James Eddie – just look at Stuart Corsar's try! A brick wall could have been in front of him and he still would've scored.

"I disagreed with a number of the referee's decisions but that's not why we lost. For twenty minutes in that game, we were effectively 14 against 18. It's very frustrating but that's part and parcel of the game.

"The players are really down in the changing room, they're hurting, but they played with such guts and determination and that's why, looking towards next season and the youngsters coming through, I'm not as disappointed as maybe I could be."

I'm glad to see Sean expressing some "gentle" criticism of refereeing, though he's right; it's not why we lost. The standard of refereeing in the Celtic League (for the past couple of years at least) has been pretty diabolical.

I thought we deserved to win that actually. The ref was consistently in favour of Leinster and gave quite a few baffling decisions in their favour and not much to us. The fact we finished 3 points adrift says a lot for the guts of the Glasgow team and the way they played. The back row was outstanding. Young Johnny Beattie seemed to be everywhere. It's a shame to have lost when we deserved something out of the game...

are the celtic league referees only inconsistent and bad when glasgow are beaten?

That's a difficult question. Ask it again after we win a few, and we might be able to answer it!

it's not so hard really because i can remember back to the munster game at the start of the season and the referee there was still terrible, i don't know if it's that other teams are better at playing the referee than glasgow, but something is wrong somewhere

You should see what they say about the Scots refs on the welsh websites

The shoulder tackle on Colin Gregor was diabolical. No attempt to use the arms by "tackler". Penalty, if ever there was, as ref was close to play, or so I thought. Not even a word to the tackler. Ref was pretty inconsistant. The "tackler" was surely due 10min in the bin.
Good effort by the team. Looking forward to Friday's game.
